ASTM A53 ERW Fabrication Technique at St. Louis Pipe & Supply

For pipe production, we fabricate standard and custom (cut-to-length or higher yield pipe wall diameters) through full form production of seamless carbon steel pipes using the ASTM A53 ERW fabrication techniques meeting industry requirements. ERW or Electric Resistance Welded is an industry-standard fabrication methodology wherein pipes and tubes are created from strips of hot-rolled steel that are then passed between forming rolls and subsequently welded for a seamless pipe.

  • A53A pipe or seamless, black welded (hot-dipped galvanized pipe) is available in several grades conforming to ASTM standards including Grade A and B, Type E (ERW), Type F (furnace buttwelds and continuous weld), and Type S (seamless steel pipe)
  • A53B low carbon steel (ferritic steel) conforms to standard linear polarization or polarization resistance (PR) techniques conform to ASTM and API standards
